Music Therapy with Adolescense
Uses music as an effective means of communication and aid in problem
solving to:
- Build tangible and constructive outlets for emotions, thoughts and
energies
- Develop coping skills regarding depression, stress, anxiety, academic and
peer pressure
The process focuses on building a therapeutic relationship, starting with
adolescents' strengths, creativity and spontaneity by:
- Using voice coaching to help "to find and strengthen their unique voice"
and combine skill building with therapeutic goals
- Writing and recording your own songs
- Use musical improvisation and drumming to express emotions and difficult
thoughts/experiences before integrating it verbally
- Beat making and use of technology
NO musical skills are required to participate in this process.
